It’s time to register for our golf tournament at Harding Park! If you’re a competitive golfer, you’ll have a chance to win some great prizes—including a car if you get a hole in one—and hone your reputation. If you’re just beginning or only get out there once or twice a year, you can be assured of a fun day. The scramble format takes the pressure off. So register now.
Golf is so popular simply because it is the best game in the world at which to be bad. — A.A. Milne

A planning meeting for future East Bay Not-for-Profit Committee meetings will follow the meeting. If you can’t attend the first meeting, but have ideas for future meeting and speakers, please contact committee chair Tammy Sugihara.

Regulatory changes are happening at a quickening pace, making it difficult for CPAs to just keep up with the new rules, much less plan accordingly to remain in compliance.
To calm the waters, join us for our eight-hour low-cost education event, where you’ll get the lowdown on the top 10 fraud schemes in a down/recovering economy (and who commits the fraud); new peer review program standards; technology updates, including security, remote computing, disaster recovery, systems audit & support, and malware; and key A&A guidance issues.
Expert speakers include Don Glenn, Charlie Burak, Tom Parry, Linda McCrone, AJ Major and Al Silva.
This also is a great opportunity to network with other CPAs.
Date: Saturday, Aug. 21
Cost: Members: $70/session or $125 both sessions and lunch; Nonmembers: $100/session or $180/both sessions and lunch. After Aug 13: Add $25.
Register online: all day | morning only | afternoon only
Note: Lunch and discount are included if you register for the all-day session.

Our legislative successes last year were built on the relationships that CalCPA members developed with their state senators and assembly members. To continue to effectively represent the profession going forward, we need to cement these relationships and build new ones.
If you personally know your senator or assembly member, or would like to get involved in our grassroots government relations effort, please contact Tom Parry, chair of our Grassroots Government Relations Committee, or chapter program associate Soco Davenport. We are not asking for a major time commitment—we are hoping to find members who can make an occasional visit to a district office with fellow members, take part in CPA Day in January and send one or two e-mails during the year.
